Christians still persecuted in modern times

Throw them to the Lions!  Let them have their fill of Christian flesh!  Those must have been terrifying words to hear as one then stared at the Lion face to face!

However, even today, Christians are being shortchanged and because of their beliefs, their songs, their jewelry, or because their faith is offensive to some other group. That’s called persecution!  Oh….you thought that went out when they stopped throwing Christians to the Lions?  Nope, sorry!

You may be surprised to know that it continues today. What has changed is that Christians are no longer thrown to the Lions, but to use a common phrase here; they are simply thrown under the bus.

Modern persecution of Christians could be called “Persecution Lite”. It’s not as bad as being eaten alive by a Lion, but it is enough to make one feel persecuted for their beliefs.

In 1963, prayer was removed from our Public Schools. Why? Because of the likes of the Atheist Madalyn Murray O’Hair with the aid of the ACLU.

Another incident (2005) was a Navy Chaplain “Gordon Klingenschmitt” who stood up for what he believed and got himself Court Marshalled over the use of the phrase “In Jesus Name” when praying.

Very recently some school children participating in Christmas plays have been forbidden to sing or play Christian Christmas music.

The State of South Carolina must stop making License Plates that feature the image of a cross and the words “I Believe”. This decision was made by a Federal Judge who apparently believes in the erroneous “Separation of Church and State”.

A few months back, a New York State man was told by the NYDOT that the Christian message that was painted on a semi-trailer he owned was offensive. The trailer which is parked on his (private) property along the highway. NYDOT said it was a “public nuisance”!

The AP ran an article recently about a woman in Florida who said she was fired for saying “Merry Christmas” instead of “Happy Holidays”.

People are being persecuted for exhibiting their Christianity in public. A Christian boy in middle school was told that his Pro-Life T-Shirt was offensive.

A teacher was told that his personal Bible on his desk should be removed. He refused and was fired.

Thousands of other cases happen each year in the U.S. The Bible tells us that Jesus said we will be persecuted in His name. It’s happening, it has been happening, and it will continue to happen unless Christians stand together and demand differently.
